Wed 26 June: KBBC lose another T20 away game

Kingston post a creditable 165 but fail to defend it as Letcombe chase down the target with 9 balls to spare and for the loss of only 3 wickets.

JJ Smith scored 57 off 50 balls with 5 fours before being stumped; his opening partner  Jonny Warner posted 47 off 31 balls before nicking one behind. Oli Morton was run out for 11 off 9 balls and Steve Lewis bowled for 7 off 12 with the not out batsmen, Steve Bowles (5 off 4) and Alex Hodder-Williams (9 off 5). Several big hitters in the Kingston line-up never made it to the crease.....

Asked to explain the surprising defeat, Captain Jonny Warner said succinctly 'bowled pies'.  This was harsh on brother Matthew Warner who bowled 4 overs for 2 wickets for a measly 14 runs and on Ben Fisher whose 4 overs were wicketless but only went for 19. On the other hand Alex Simms took a wicket courtesy of a stumping by Oli Morton but his 4 overs went for an eye-watering 52, a rate nearly matched by Steve Lewis whose one over cost 12, but surpassed by Andrew Cummine (12 balls for 27 runs) and  JJ Smith (15 balls, 37 runs !!).  Captain Jonny Warner did not expand on either his decision to use some of these bowlers with others in the team or his batting order that had (unused) big hitters below nurdlers.....'bowled pies' he repeated simply.
